Principal
Saint James Catholic School located in Elizabethtown Kentucky is presently conducting a search for a School Principal for the 2025/2026 school year. We are seeking a practicing Catholic with excellent communication skills and proven administrative abilities to continue a strong, highly academic program. Our mission is to serve the whole child in a curriculum with strong parental support. Our school is a Kindergarten – 8th Grade facility with a Pre-School Program.
Applicants must be strong educators with classroom experience and preferably an administrative background. They are expected to meet the Archdiocese of Louisville requirements for principalship. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience and Diocesan guidelines.

Summary of Qualifications Required for Saint James Catholic School Principal
Education: Master’s Degree in Education
Experience: Minimum of four years’ successful teaching experience
Religion: Catholic
Certification:
- Valid Kentucky Teacher’s Certificate, Rank II or Rank I
- Valid Kentucky Principal’s Statement of Eligibility, Rank II or Rank I
- Valid Kentucky Principal’s Certificate, Rank II or Rank I
- Note: If a person comes from another state, he or she can apply for Kentucky certification through the office of the Assistant Superintendent.
Catechist Preparation: Expectation to achieve Advanced or Master Catechist Certification
Qualifications: Candidates should demonstrate competencies in the following areas:
- Knowledge and implementation of Catholic Curriculum
- Financial and budgetary policies and procedures
- Professional development
- Strong interpersonal skills with students, parents, colleagues
- Strong oral and written communication
- Conflict resolution
