POSITION SUMMARY
St. James Catholic School is seeking a warm, faith-filled Kindergarten Teacher who delights in helping young children discover the wonder of learning. The ideal candidate creates a classroom where students feel safe, valued, and excited to come to school each day—building strong foundations in reading, math, and social development while gently guiding hearts toward kindness, responsibility, and faith.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Create a welcoming, structured, and joyful classroom environment where children feel confident to learn and grow
• Plan and teach developmentally appropriate lessons that build foundational skills in early literacy, writing, and math
• Use engaging learning centers, small groups, and hands-on activities to meet the needs of all learners
• Provide gentle, consistent guidance that supports independence, positive behavior, and strong classroom community
• Observe, assess, and document student growth; communicate progress clearly and compassionately
• Build strong relationships with families through regular communication and parent conferences
• Lead daily prayer and integrate faith naturally into classroom life and learning
• Participate in school liturgies, service projects, and community traditions
• Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to ensure each student receives needed support and encouragement
QUALIFICATIONS
• Practicing Catholic in full communion with the Church is prefered but not required.
• Joyful commitment to Catholic education and the formation of young children
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; teaching degree and/or classroom experience preferred (not required)
• Patient, nurturing, and organized with strong classroom management skills
• Strong communication skills, professionalism, and a team-oriented spirit
