A Letter From Father Michael
July 11, 2024 Dear St. James Families, Blessings to each of you during these summer days. I look forward to seeing you all as the 2024-2025 school year begins. Since the end of last school year Fr. Loi Pham has transitioned to a new priestly assignment at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Louisville. His 2021 ordination classmate, Fr. Quan Nguyen, has joined us at St. James in recent days and is off to a great start. Fr. Quan is also from Vietnam and will be a great presence at our parish and school. Thank you for welcoming him and keeping him in your prayers. As priests we know taking on new assignments is a reality of our life and ministry. This reality extends as well to those in consecrated religious life. The Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia have been a great blessing to St. James parish and school since their arrival. This summer has been a momentous one for their congregation as they gathered in late June for General Chapter and the election of new leadership. The change in assignments following this gathering presents us with the opportunity to prayerfully say farewell to Sr. Mary Grace, Sr. Mary Joseph and Sr. Lucia Christi who have served generously during their time with us. We offer prayerful welcome to Sr. Maria Christi, Sr. Sophia Thomas and Sr. Maria Grace, who has served with us once before. Sr. Maria Christi is excited to begin the year with us as Principal. I have enjoyed my time with her in recent days and am sure her impressive background and wealth of experience will bear great fruit at St. James. She will be ably assisted in the role of Assistant Principal by Mr. Pat Black, who has won broad admiration for his professional expertise and unrelenting enthusiasm. I have great trust in their ability to lead our school for years to come in accord with the ideals of Catholic education. I renew my commitment to seek what is best for St. James parish and school during my time with you. I hope to see you and your families soon and to keep you in prayer in the days and months to come. May God’s blessing be upon you. St. James the Greater, pray for us! Rev. Michael T. Wimsatt, S.T.D Pastor, St. James |
