Position Title: IT Technician / Keyboarding Teacher
Grade Level: Middle School
Contract: 187‑Day Teacher Contract
(Days vary with the expectation that some contract days will be worked during the summer months)
Reports To: Principal
Position Summary
The IT Technician / Keyboarding Teacher serves a dual role supporting both instructional technology and student learning. This position is responsible for teaching keyboarding and related technology skills while also providing on‑site technical support for hardware, software, and instructional technology systems. The role supports the effective integration of technology into the academic program and contributes to a positive, efficient learning environment aligned with the school’s mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Responsibilities
- Provide instruction in keyboarding and foundational technology skills to middle school students
- Develop lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and school expectations
- Assess student progress and maintain accurate records of student performance
- Create a positive, structured learning environment that supports student growth and responsibility
- Collaborate with faculty and administration to support student learning initiatives
Information Technology Responsibilities
- Provide basic technical support for faculty, staff, and students (hardware, software, classroom technology, and peripherals)
- Assist with setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computers, tablets, printers, projectors, and instructional technology
- Support networked systems and classroom technology in coordination with any external IT providers
- Maintain inventory of technology equipment and assist with updates and replacements as needed
- Support technology readiness for testing, events, and instructional needs

Qualifications
Required:
- Strong knowledge of basic computer systems, devices, and instructional technology
- Ability to work effectively with middle school students and adults
- Strong problem‑solving and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a school environment
Preferred:
- Teaching certification preferred but not required
- IT‑related certification or coursework preferred but not required
- Previous experience teaching keyboarding, computer skills, or working in educational technology
- Experience supporting technology in a school setting
Work Environment and Schedule
- Work is performed in classrooms, offices, and other school facilities
- Position follows a standard teacher contract, with flexibility required
- Some contract days are expected to be worked during summer months for technology preparation, updates, or planning
