Saint James Catholic School announces 2026-2027 scholarship recipients

Saint James Catholic School is proud to announce the recipients of our 2026–2027 scholarship awards.

Sixth grader Arianna Reburn is the recipient of the Amy Alicna Scholarship, while fellow sixth grader Addison Peak has received the Angela Kirchner Memorial Scholarship. The recipients of the Knights of Columbus Scholarship include fifth grader Isabella Delgado Prieto, fourth grader Easton Phiri, second grader River Gentry and fifth grader Dominic Brown.

The Amy Alicna Scholarship Fund was established by Brian and Lindsey Alicna in 2019 to help provide a Catholic education to a St. James parishioner who may not otherwise have the opportunity. Brian and his sister Amy were SJS students when Amy passed away in 1986 as a sixth grader.

The Angela Kirchner Memorial Scholarship was established in 2022 by SJS sixth grade teacher Patty Kirchner and her husband, Paul, to honor the memory of their daughter, Angela.

The Knights of Columbus scholarship, established last year, is being awarded to its first group of recipients. The Knights of Columbus organization is founded on the principles of charity, unity and fraternity, with a mission to bring financial assistance to those in need. The organization traditionally supports local Catholic parishes, Catholic education and men and women who are either in formation or discerning a religious vocation.

All three scholarships are made possible through partnerships with the Central Kentucky Community Foundation (CKCF).

“These scholarships reflect the power of community generosity and the lasting impact individuals and families can have on area students,” said Davette Swiney, President/CEO of CKCF. “Partnering with SJS to provide these scholarships helps carry forward legacies while expanding access to education for the next generation.”
