Our 6th grade students recently took an exciting and educational field trip to JA BizTown in Louisville—and it proved to be an outstanding experience from start to finish.
JA BizTown is designed to immerse students in a fully interactive, simulated economy, and our students rose to the challenge with enthusiasm. From the moment they arrived, they stepped into real-world roles as business owners, employees, and consumers. Each student had a job to perform, whether managing finances, running a storefront, or making important business decisions.
What stood out most was the level of engagement. Students were not just participating—they were fully invested. They collaborated with one another, solved problems on the spot, and took ownership of their responsibilities. It was clear that they were applying classroom knowledge in a meaningful and practical way.
Beyond the academic connections, the experience also helped students build confidence, communication skills, and a deeper understanding of how communities and economies function. Watching them navigate challenges and celebrate successes together was truly rewarding.
Overall, the trip to JA BizTown was a very positive and impactful experience. Our 6th graders represented St. James Catholic School with pride, demonstrating focus, teamwork, and a willingness to learn. It is safe to say this is a trip they will remember for years to come.
