Admission Process

All preschool through 8th grade students requesting admission into Saint James Catholic School must follow the three-step process below.

  1. Submit an online application
  2. Schedule an assessment
  3. Meeting with the Principal

Upon submission of an application, the SJS admission team will reach out to schedule an assessment.  The meeting with the Principal will take place once the assessment is completed.

Scholarships

Amy Alicna Scholarship Fund

Established in 2019 by Brian and Lindsey Alicna, this fund is meant to honor the memory of former Saint James Catholic School 6th grader Amy Alicna. The fund was created to support a Saint James Catholic School student who is also a registered parishioner at Saint James Catholic Church. The scholarship will be provided to the student based solely on financial need and may provide up to the full tuition amount each year. In order to apply for this scholarship, interested parties must complete the annual financial assistance application through the Catholic Education Foundation. All financial requests will be considered for this scholarship and awarded annually based on financial need.

Angela Kirchner Memorial Scholarship

Established in 2022 by Patty and Paul Kirchner, this fund honors the memory of their daughter Angela who attended Catholic school during her middle school years. The fund was created to support a Saint James Catholic School student who will be attending sixth grade.The scholarship is provided to a student who is a role model for community service within their church and community and exhibits financial need and a desire to achieve their educational goals.To apply for this scholarship, interested parties must complete the annual financial application through the Catholic Education Foundation. All financial requests will be considered for this scholarship and awarded annually based on financial need and community service.


After School Care

SJS offers After School Care for students five days a week until 5:30 p.m. Students who attend After School Care report to the cafeteria at the end of the school day, where students will enjoy a healthy after-school snack. Students will then be released to classrooms where they can complete homework and play until parents arrive and check them out.

There is a drop-in daily rate of $15 per day per child. Drop-ins must be scheduled in advance with the director Brandi Newman.

Community Resources

The Elizabethtown and Hardin County community is a vibrant area positioned in the heartland of Kentucky. The area provides a variety of industries and manufacturing and caters to the military community with its proximity to Fort Knox. The population of Hardin County is 108,000, with 30,000 of those situated in the Elizabethtown city limits. Many attractions are in the area or within a short distance, including historic locations, Elizabethtown Sports Park, recreational venues, restaurants, etc.
